Criminals are continuing to impersonate the Government’s Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). You do not need to do anything to receive the Winter Fuel Payment if you are eligible.
We are warning everyone to look out for scam text messages about the Winter Fuel Payment. Criminals are claiming to be from DWP and sending out texts urging people to ‘apply’ for their Winter Fuel Payments. They might even ask for a small money transfer to ‘check’ your card is working. This is a scam.
How can you protect yourself?
